ABOUT THE PROJECT

The University of Arizona Residence Life Social Justice Committee teams up with Cylan Shaffer to create a introductory training video for future resident assistants. Residence Life staff review common definitions such as diversity, social justice, and identity while current resident assistants talk about why they value social justice in their personal lives, as well as how they work to be social justice advocates in their role as RAs.

Created in 2012, the training video is still currently used in classrooms and during all resident assistant orientations at The University of Arizona. The film has also been discovered and adopted by dozens of other universities across the nation such as The University of Michigan, Colorado State University, The University of Wisconsin-Madison, and The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and screened as an introductory video within their social justice and resident assistant training programs.
